However, the gradual progression into advance levels of the language is aimed until students are capable of reading and understanding Arabic texts themselves from early and contemporary sources. A rigours study of Qur’an Tafseer (Exegesis), Hadith and Islamic Fiqh (Islamic Jurisprudence) along with their usuls (principles) forms the core components of the course, providing a crystal clear understating of the deen.

The Alimiyyah course is a combination of classical and modern study of religious subjects which enable the students to partake in any discourse of our time. The course connects the learners with their predecessors through the study of sihah as-Sittah (the six major authentic source of prophetic tradition) along with history. Overview

The full time ‘Alimiyyah is a five years educational program. Students with no Darul Uloom back ground will require to spend one year as a foundation year towards ‘Alimiyyah. First two years of ‘Alimyyah syllabus covers a level of education equivalent to Thanawiyyah/Alim/ A levels. The 3rd and 4th year of the syllabus is equivalent to Kulliyyah/BA/fazil. The final year (5th) is equivalent to Magisteer (MA or Dawra-e-Hadith). An extra year is introduced to cater for teacher training leading to teaching qualification similar to PGCE. However, this extra year would be optional and separate from the completion of ‘Alimiyyah.

During the first three years there will be an emphasis on the teaching of Arabic but critical texts will be taught in English. Hadith Studies will be tightly focussed on Mishkat as was the case in the original Dars-i-Nizamiyyah curriculum. In Years 4 and 5 a greater depth of study within Arabic will be applied including the study of Sahih Bukhari and Sahih Muslim in Arabic. Outcome of the course

After studying the vital sciences; Exegesis of the Qur’an, Qur’anic studies, the Sciences of Hadith along with primary Hadith texts, the whole course culminates in the final year, in an intensive study of the core Hadith texts, namely the six authentic books of Hadith. In combination with the traditional study of the core Islamic subjects, the course focused towards an in depth study of modern issues vital for the Islamic scholars.

The course also maintains the traditional system of Ijazah upon graduation, which is permission from the teacher to the students to transmit knowledge. Every scholar is then part of an unbroken chain of transmission leading back to the Messenger of Allah (Peace and blessings be upon him). The course equips students with thorough knowledge of the Qur’an and Sunnah, a deep understanding of the juristic laws governing a Muslim’s life, and great appreciation of the works of our pious predecessors, providing students with motivation to excel similarly in the field of knowledge. Students are immersed in the Arabic language so they can directly access the Qur’an, Hadith and classical Islamic texts in order to enhance their knowledge both during and after their course of study. The teachers and students are committed to actualise the knowledge learnt in example and practise, in the form of well adapted tarbiyah sessions on a weekly basis. This provides spiritual nourishment and allows one to focus on self rectification, the fundamental objective in life and a core value of the ‘Alimiyyah Course. However, whether one wishes to serve the community professionally as scholars, leaders, and teachers or simply expound on their Islamic knowledge, the ‘Alimiyyah course offers a remarkable journey on the legacy of the beloved Messenger of Allah (Peace and blessings be upon him).

The students will be provided with certificates equivalent to BA, MA and Dawra-e-Hadith upon successful completion of the course.
