Shaykh Habibul Gaffar completed his Basic training as an Alim in Jamea Islamia Patiya, Chittagong, Bangladesh achieving the degree of Dakhil in Islamic Theology in 1997. He was then awarded a scholarship to attend the prestigious University of Al-Azhar in Cairo, Egypt. There he completed a BA (hons) in Islamic Theology from the department of Hadith Studies in 1999 and then went on to complete an MA in 2001 and an MPhil in 2004.

Shaykh Habibul Gaffar joined Darul Uloom Al Islamiyah Dr Maulana in 2001 and has been a loyal member of staff since that time. He is currently the Head of the Jamia where he teaches Arabic Grammar, Tajweed, Quran Translation, Fiqh, Usoolul Fiqh, Mustalah and books of Hadith such as Bukhari Shareef, Muslim shareef, Nasa-e Shareef, Ibne-Maajah Shareef and Mishkat Shareef. In addition to this he also functions as a Khateeb of the Jami Mosque where he regularly delivers the Friday Khutbah in Arabic, English and Bengali.
